Description

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a man of good judgement is in need of a bike. An iconic bike, we should say. And there are only few bike models in history which have been so successful and longed for as the Colnago Super. And the early Colnago Super in its Team Molteni livree might be one of the most coveted.

Few bicycles have influenced the scene as much as the Colnago Super. At a time when racing bicycles were heavy with long wheelbases and flat angles, Ernesto Colnago released a bicycle which would become a legend of cycling history and the top model of his 1970s catalogue - the Super.

Made of Columbus SL steel tubes - with a shorter, stiffer and lighter frame - the Colnago Super was designed for high-performance. Since its launch, uncountable racing bicycles have been built with a geometry inspired by the Super.
Ernesto Colnago's final breakthrough was for a great part based on the success of the Molteni Team, which he outfitted with his Super models. Many people recall the myriads of pictures taken of Eddy Merckx, who raced from victory to victory on his Colnago bikes, wearing the brown Molteni jersey.

But there was also a successful time of the Molteni Colnagos before Merckx first mounted one.
In 1970 they were every Tifosi's darling when a young Michele Dancelli broke the spell and won Milan San Remo as the first Italian after 17 years.
It is exactly this year from which our bike stems.

Its former Italian owner had it restored to the best a 1970 Colnago Super could be: A Molteni-apparelled Colnago record equipped top-notch racer.

From the rear derailleur and pedals to bidon and headset - period correct parts is was you find on this bike.

Where ever this bike will go, be it a wall be it the strade bianche: It will be turning heads galore.
