Description
Few bicycles have influenced the sports cycling scene as much as the Colnago Super. At a time when racing bicycles were averagely heavy with long wheelbases and flat angles, Ernesto Colnago released a frameset which would become a legend of cycling history and one of the top models of his 1970s and 1980s catalogues - the Super.
Made of Columbus SL and SP steel tubes, with a shorter, stiffer and lighter frame, the Colnago Super was designed for high-performance. Since the launch, uncountable racing bicycles have been built with a geometry inspired by the Super.
This particular Colnago Super dates back to the 1980s and the frameset is still in original condition. Besides that, the bike underwent a complete check and is ready to be ridden. This particular Colnago illustrates a very typical paintwork of the Colnago Superconfex Yoko Team from the Netherlands, the famous predecessor of Buckler, Rabobank and Lotto NL Jumbo teams. In its very last form, this Super, inherited the non-crimped chain stays of the former top model, the Mexico.
The bike is furthermore fitted with a fine Campagnolo Victory groupset. The Victory was introduced as an alternative to the modern C-Record parts, offering a more classic appeal. In fact, the technology behind this groupset was the same proven one as for the Super Record.
If you are looking for a bike from the 1980s with a typical paintjob and reliable groupset, this Colnago will not disappoint you.
