Description

The Colnago EPS was the flagship road bicycle of the 2009 Colnago catalogue and unlike some of the marque’s lesser ranges, it was made at their Italian factory. The Colango EPS features particularly rare carbon lugs which were developed in collaboration with a team of Ferrari engineers.

The tube set isn’t off-the-peg either. Colnago uses a pre-preg carbon cloth which is wound by hand into tubes to ensure the correct layup and to control the amount of resin to create the best characteristics for each tube.

The top tube and down tube also feature what Colnago call 3PRS, which can best be described as three 10mm wide carbon ribs on the inside of the tubes; the thickness tapers along the length of the tubes and the ribs prevent any lateral movement. The result is a chassis that’s rock solid even when you’re sprinting out of the saddle and wrenching on the handlebars.

The chainstays are Colnago Power Stays, massively oversized and shaped to add maximum strength and resistance to twisting forces from the bottom bracket. A dedicated EPS fork is also used with a specific tapered headset, 1 inch at the top and 1 ¼ inch at the bottom, to stiffen the front end for more precise handling.

What's more, is that our Colnago EPS has been elevated to another level! It has been coated in the famous Team Mapei paint scheme. As would be expected this top-level bicycle has been equipped with a top-level groupset; Shimano Dura-Ace which is running on a lightweight Mavic Ksyium SL wheelset.
