Description

What we have here is sort of an Enigma.

The frame of our bike obviously seems to be an old Peugeot of the 1960s with Reynolds tubing and Nervex Professional lugs.

But even more obviously, it has been repainted, relabeled and outfittet with more modern parts.

The parts come from around the year 1980 so we assume that the repaint also happened around that time. And it was executed very professionally at that! The frame shines in a nice warm orange pearl hue.

Its downtube decal names the bike a Ducret, which is interesting. The only Ducret we know of has been one of the three frame builders for the Parisian brand CNC. This brand is nowadays forgotten but once it produced some of the finest bikes you could get in France. 36 French championships and 12 world championships were won on their bikes.

Whatever the history of this bike might be, the way it is build now makes for a very comfortable and good looking vintage bikes. which even has enough room for a set of mudguards and/or wide tires. The triple chainset allows you to conquer some of the harsher climbs you would have to walk up, if you used some ordinary vintage racing bike, and the wheelbase ads just a bit of comfort on longer rides over rough terrain.
