Description
The first bikes which had the honour to bear the Eddy Merckx logo, were the Eddy Merckx Kessels bikes in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Nobody less than the Champion himself rode them.
Unfortunately Kessels fell into oblivion and many people forgot about the professional bikes they once assembled.
Our Kessels is one of their great bikes which were built to a standard that was up there with most professional level bikes of its time.
The frame is an elegant Anglais design, built with Reynolds 531 tubing. Though Kessels frames often used those butted tubes just on some of the main tubes and stronger stuff for the stays.
The bike is equipped with a nice Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset and Universal center-pull brakes.
This machine is extremely rare, it is really hard to find one of these Kessels made Eddy Merckx ladies bikes and it is in nice condition, considering its age, too!
Also, the colour is rather rare though not unseen on Kessels bikes.
The setup with lightweight mudguards and lights makes it likely that the Kessels was meant for everyday sportive riding. And of course, it would still be good for this purpose today.
A racer like this would also be perfect for any historic cycling event.
