Description

The Eddy Merckx Professional was the top model of the early Eddy Merckx brand. It was 'the bike that lives up to its name'.

After retiring from competitions, the great Champion Eddy Merckx started setting up a bicycle manufacture. Since he wanted to build the best road bikes possible, he managed to engage one of the best frame builders of all time to help him with designing the frames and teaching other frame builders. And as it happened Ugo de Rosa - The Master set some of the first frames of the Eddy Merckx Professional and helped Eddy in the first business years.

Eddy Merckx Professionals from the 1980s appeal to collectors from all around the globe due to their perfection and their pedigree. This one - serial number 6A 9157E - dates back to 1983/1984 and is still in very nice shape.

The original paintwork and decals cover a frame that has been made from Classic Columbus SL tubing. Back then the choice for most professional bikes. The fork is chromed which was an extra. The fork crown is already the modern sloping form which also made its way well into the 1990s on the Corsa Extra model.

Regarding the technical side, this classic bicycle is kept very plain. The high class tubing is completed by a Campagnolo Super Record groupset in sweet condition! You will also find Merckx pantographs on the stem, the brake levers, the shifting levers and the big chainring. For a Merckx that means fully pantographed.

Wether you are a vintage bikes enthusiast, an Eddy Merckx fan or simply love stunning bicycles, here is a chance to a legendary road bike model!
Checked and ready to ride.
