Description
In the late 1980s and early 1990s the Eddy Merckx Professional was one of the best road bike frames and therefore the choice of many professional teams. It dominated the peloton with its extremely well made triangle of light and rigid Columbus SLX tubes. The SLX was a "superbutted" tubeset from Cyclex steel, designed for professional use famous for its helical reinforcements on the end of the tubes.
This particular Eddy Merckx Professional SLX is a bicycle with racing pedigree. The number holder, the internally routed brakes cable and the Columbus SLX tubing are clear indicators that this bike was designed for serious competition. Arrived at Steel Vintage Bikes in good, original condition the bike underwent a check in our workshop where our mechanics made it ready to ride.
Regarding the components, this Eddy Merckx is built with climbs in mind: a Campagnolo Record Triple crankset and a 28T Regina freewheel to provide the right ratio for the toughest climbs. Needless to say that this would make any Eroica ride as memorable as possible without renouncing a genuine vintage racing bike!
Last but not least, this Eddy Merckx Professional SLX illustrates a typical ADR Team paint scheme: cherry on the top!
