Description
With the same meticulous intent on the details, which he had shown during his racing career, Eddy Merckx started to build bicycles under his name. In 1979 he had Ugo de Rosa, 'the master' help him training his employees and setting up his manufacture in Belgium.
You also can easily see de Rosa's influence on the design of Eddy Merckx' bikes as far as his 1980s models are concerned.
Right from the start on, Eddy equipped professional teams with his machines and his bikes were loved for their unpretentious performance.
After some years, The Merckx manufacture added a second model to their line, which before consisted mainly of the 'Professional' and later the 'Corsa Extra'.
To offer a high performance machine with the same race proven geometry but for ambitious amateurs, Columbus Cromor tubing was chosen for the Eddy Merckx Strada.
This tubeset was slightly less expensive than SL for example, but had the same size with a marginally thicker down tube - specifications which made it specifically interesting for strong riders and sprinters.
As for the parts, our Eddy Merckx Strada from 1987 is equipped with the then new Campagnolo Chorus groupset. This top range set which established itself right beneath the Record, proved to become Campagnolo's most popular components in the next years.
Just like the Strada frame, it offered the performance of a professional setup for a more affordable price.
Our bike has been thoroughly checked, parts have been replaced where necessary.
This properly trimmed machine is ready to get you around, from your doorstep to the dusty roads of Gaiole in Chianti and back.
