F. Moser Wind Team Saeco TT-Bike Mario Scirea 1996

If an Italian rider knew a thing or two about aerodynamic cycling, it certainly was Francesco Moser who had legendarily smashed the hour record in the 1980s due to an aerodynamic position on a slim improved bicycle. So it seems to be absolutely natural that his bicycle company should equip the pro Team Saeco with a special new time trial machine, the F. Moser Wind Olympic.

This massive piece was based on a 7020 Aluminium frame which should provide strength and wind-cheating qualities alike. It seems that the Moser engineers had taken some inspiration from the mountainbike world. That rendered the bike a rather chunky but unusually stiff piece of time trial equipment.
As for the parts, the Wind is equipped with a Campagnolo Record groupset which ensures reliable functionality.

As an extra, this red spark belonged to Mario Scirea of the Team Saeco. He was a strong 'Gregario', a supporting rider who helped Mario Cippollini to secure his sprint victories. In his long career he took part in no less than 29 grand tours. Yet he originated from a time trial background (and even won the team time trial world championships once), thus it is especially nice to have one of his more iconic time trial bikes here.
This bike might not be the most elegant but it certainly is anything else but boring!
