Fausto Coppi Millenium Racing Bike 1990s

In the late 1950s, Fausto Coppi wanted to start producing his own classic Italian racing bicycles. He made a deal with Fiorelli in Novi Ligure for the manufacture of bicycles under his name. These vintage bicycles were very similar to Fiorelli's own designs, apart from the finish and branding. When the Campionissimo passed away in a malaria fever in 1960, this contract was still valid and the production of Fausto Coppi branded bicycles continued. Later on, the Company Masciaghi got the rights to the brand Coppi and, in the early 1990s, engaged the frame building legend Pelizzoli to design their frames. From then on there were victories on Coppi bikes again. Their Team Polti was incredible successful. Even in the late 1990s they were wining on blue Coppi bikes.

Fausto Coppi Millenium Racing Bike stem from this era around the year 2000. The frame is made lightweight oversized aluminium alloy tubes with different profiles. The lightweight frameset pairs perfectly with the Coppi branded carbon fork.

The partypiece is ofcourse the groupset. Shimano Dura-Ace of the 7700 series as high regarded by the vintage bicycle enthusiasts as it was by racing riders back then. This 9-speed groupset is where Shimano scored high on the esthetics and off course when it comes to functionality. It is also known as one of the lightest of it's time, thanks to clever designs, expensive materials and unusual solutions like the bottom bracekt with needle bearings.
