Description

Fritz Fleck was a self-tought frame Builder from Mannheim, Germany. He went into business in 1953 by starting his Brand Flema (FLEck MAnnheim).
In his best years, he made up to 100 Frames, often for others Brands like the German wholesale giant Stier.
But it was for his experimenting with titanium that he became famous. There had been titanium bikes before 1970, Fleck personally knew of one that had been made by Porsche. But these were just one-offs and Fleck was willing to put on a small series.
He had connections to a company which used for industrial tools and who had a vacuum chamber where it was possible to weld the notoriously difficult material.
Everything had to be made from scratch, connections, dropouts, braze-ons. There were no paragons. The 25 Frames which Fleck made between 1970 and 1975 still looked a lot like the prototypes with their raw welding seams and unfiled dropouts. This almost brutal look set his designs apart from outer pioneers like Speedwell or Passoni.
But he also had sportive success.
In 1972, when Speedwell officially started production, Günther Haritz already won a golden medal in the olympic team pursuit - riding a Flema titanium bike.

We are stoked to be able to present here one of Fritz Fleck's creations. A titanium road bike from the 1970s. With the appropriate groupset, a Campagnolo Record.

This is something for a collection.
