Francesco Moser By De Rosa Road Bike 1980

Francesco Moser, one of the most winning riders ever, started producing bikes under his name in the late 1970s. He had already chosen Ugo De Rosa for his professional frames and so he did when decided to set up his own factory. By 1977, Mr. De Rosa, "The Master" – In the 1974 Giro d'Italia, an estimated 80% of all riders in the peloton rode on bikes which were built by De Rosa – helped Francesco Moser to transform the small workshop of his brother Aldo into a high end frame manufacture and trained other frame builders.

Our Francesco Moser Super Prestige dates back to 1980 and is exactly one of the rare and superb bicycles manufactured by Ugo de Rosa himself.
In 1980 Moser was riding for the Team Sanson-Campagnolo and of course all his team mates rode Francesco Moser branded bikes, mostly built by De Rosa.
When in 1981, the team changed its name to Famcucine-Campagnolo, the bikes had to be repainted and a number of new ones had to be made, but also the new team was riding with Moser bikes, mostly built by De Rosa.
It is this time from which our bike seems to be. It could well have been a team bike which was built in late 1980 but never was ridden in competition or has gotten the new white paint of the next year's sponsor. Whatever the background of this bike is, the 'Diamante' chain stays, a custom geometry and 172.5mm cranks tell a story of a very specifically set up bike, built by the hands of Ugo de Rosa.

Made of light and sturdy Columbus SL tubes, this bike is in good overall condition despite some scruffs and still has the original paintwork and decals. Regarding the components, this F.Moser is equipped with an original, pantographed Campagnolo Super Record groupset.

Completely serviced in our workshop, the bike is ready to ride.
