Description

Flandria is a big name with a great place in cycling history.
The company was from Belgium and had one of the most successful cycling teams the world has seen. With a legendary status and its instantly recognizable bikes with stern decor, Flandria bicycles were ridden by great cycling champions like Freddy Maertens, Herman Van Springel, Jan Janssen, Erik De Vlaeminck and so many more!

Freddy Maertens stuck out, not only because he was able to win the world championships twice, and the Vuelta on top. He also easily was the best Sprinter of his generation. In the year of his first world champions title, he won no less than 54 races, wearing the rainbow jersey. A record result which has never since been achieved again. During the 1970s there was a hot debate among Belgian bicycle fans wether Merckx or Maertens was the best Belgian cyclist.

It is no miracle that special edition Freddy Maertens bikes were marketed by Flandria with their iconic red, white and black paint scheme.
Flandria frames were utterly stable, tested and proven reliable time and again on the flemish cobble stones. Most of them were made of Japanese Ishiwata Steel tubing. A material that was comparable with Columbus tubes but came with a better finishing, which made it popular among frame builders.

The bike is equipped with parts that make it Strade Bianche eligible. We checked the bike thoroughly and can approve of it as a possible choice for L'Eroica routes or to bring that glance to your friends eyes, who can recollect the impressive performances of Freddy Maertens.
