Description
Having worked as chief engineer and frame builder at the workshop of Sante Pogliaghi, Emiliano Freschi decided to start his own business. He did not manufacture many bicycles, but every single one of them shows unmistakable signs of extraordinary craftsmanship. And here is one of them.
This Freschi Supreme Super Criterium from 1974 is a very interesting bike: The frame is made of light and sturdy Columbus SL steel tubes and shows unique details. The most astonishing specialty might be the routing of the shifting cables over the the bottom bracket shell: unlike other frame builders he decided for pulleys to reduce friction.
Also remarkable is the geometry with an untypically short wheelbase for such an old bike. The rear triangle is so short that the droputs were cut to allow a quick change of the rear wheel without having to deflate the tire. The fork with its short rake reminds of a track bike and allows a swift steering.
The frame has still its original, elegant blue paint and original decals.
To secure a really top performance, this classy racer is equipped with some of the best components of its time - a Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset.
A great choice for a bicycle collector but perfectly suitable for classic cycling events like L'Eroica or even regular rides as well!
