Freschi Super Criterium Classic Road Bike 1978

Having worked as chief engineer and frame builder at the workshop of Sante Pogliaghi, Emiliano Freschi decided to start his own business. He did not manufacture many bicycles, but every single one of them shows unmistakable signs of extraordinary craftsmanship. And we are happy to present one of them.

This Freschi Supreme Super Criterium from 1978 is a very interesting bike:
The frame is made of light and sturdy Columbus SL steel tubes and shows unique details. The most astonishing specialty might be the routing of the shifting cables over the the bottom bracket shell: unlike other frame builders he decided for pulleys to reduce friction. Together with the shot-in rear stays, such extravagant solutions are in complete contrast to the classic remote paintwork and decals.
The frame has been constructed for sportive riding but albeit the name 'Super Criterium' suggests a twitchy geometry, it is rather relaxed with angles which make it perfect for longer rides as well.
