Description
Most people who are interested in vintage bicycles have come across one or two of typically blue Gios torino bikes. And many are familiar with the history of the famous brand from Turin.
Masters of frame building influenced the shape of their bikes, Giuseppe Pelà, the Giamé brothers for example.
In the 1970s and 1980s popular riders rode for the Brooklyn team which was sponsored by Gios. Among them were champions like Roger de Vlaeminck, Patrick Sercu, Didi Thurau or Fons de Wolf.
Through the victories of the team in one day races and classics, their top model, the Gios Record and later the Super Record, became objects of desire to many cyclists.
One of those bikes is the one we are presenting here: our 1980Gios Torino Super Record Pista Bike.
. It is the model on which you could see Didi Thurau race on the track in 1980.
Elegant seat stay caps fine lugs and of course the iconic original Gios paint on Columbus tubing leave the impression of utter beauty.
The parts come on top. With a classic Campagnolo Record Pista groupset and the 'rest' being Cinelli, this track bike is up there with the finest bikes you could circle around on the planks of a velodrome in 1980.
Pantographs on stem, seatpost and chainring give an extra touch of finesse to a machine which would not even need such engravings to look great.
A true collector's item and an eye catcher.
