Description

Gitane – a name which means 'Gypsy Lady' in French – is a brand which was synonymous with French bicycle racing from the 1960s through the mid-1980s, sponsoring riders such as Jacques Anquetil, Lucien Van Impe, Bernard Hinault (1975–1983), Laurent Fignon, and Greg LeMond

Gitane offered a wide variety of models from cutting edge professional machines to sturdy city cruisers. This Gitane classic road racing bicycle belongs to the the high end of the spectrum of the 1990s offer. The fine frame is made of steel tubes connected both with unusual lugs and smooth welds. In the second glance you would be able to spot some special solutions like the seatpost held tight by a discreet grub screw or the rear brake cable neatly hidden in a special groove in the top tube.
As for the components it is fitted with a Sachs Rival drivetrain an indexed shifting. It may not sound that exciting, but these parts work really well and you will appreciate the snappy gearchanges. The rest however sounds exciting indeed. There are fine parts like the beautiful black Modolo brakes, extra smooth Mavic hubs laced with Mavic Open4CD clincher rims, Campagnolo Record bottom bracket, or the Swiss Edco headset.

So far so good, but we didn't mention another sweet part - the condition. This bike is in exceptionally good condition as you can easily see from the state of the black and neon green paintjob or indeed the parts, which work practically as new.
If you are looking for a stylish, reliable and high quality bike for your rides, look no further.
