Description
The brand Gleris is a rather unknown side project of the famous manufacturer Cinelli and one of their best frame builders, Andrea Pesenti.
Andrea Pesenti is also known as Mr. Laser, or the Laser Man. He was the main head and hands behind the construction of one of the most iconic and desirable racing bikes of all time, the Cinelli Laser. But, of course, he also worked on other projects where bikes had to be made which were a bit more affordable for the customer than the notoriously expensive Laser.
These projects involved framesets for the dutch cycling brand Van Tuyl as well as Cinelli's Formula Bici project and - as we can see here - Gleris.
Gleris bikes are not easy to find since they have not been produced in large numbers and most of them have been exported outside of Italy. But every single Gleris has been built using high quality materials like Columbus SL tubes and Cinelli lugs. The quality of the design and the manufacturing are obvious.
Our Gleris Strada is a rather small but very fine bike which shows the classic angles of Italian racing machines. Its elegant frame is outfitted with rather rare parts, most of them by Italian component manufacturer Galli, who were well-known for their top class products which were en par with what Campagnolo offered or in some cases surpassed them.
This bike is a witness to the elegance of Andrea Pesenti's creations and an excellently working road bike at the same time. Fit for weekend jaunts or L'Eroica races alike.
