Description

Founded after the first world war by the brothers Picard, Helyett started to produce bicycle parts and soon complete bikes.
The name of the brand actually was a reference to honour a popular Opérette character.

The brand drew a lot of international attention when they started to sponsor teams, which they did successfully from the 1930s to the 1960s, often with Hutchinson as a co-sponsor.
The most famous rider who rode on bikes bearing the Helyett logo, was Jaques Anquetil, who won three out of his five tour de France victories while being sponsored by Helyett.

In the 1960s, Helyett was acquired by Gitane and from then on, some of their bikes even had Gitane fork crowns.

The bike we are presenting here is one of those Gitane-Helyetts from the 1970s.
The frame is made using Reynolds steel tubing and has been equipped with high quality parts, from the shifting to the brakes.

This is a bike fit for L'Eroica events and everyday rides alike.
