Description

Jan Janssen was the first Dutch rider to win the Tour de France and also the first Dutch to win the Vuelta of Spain. His glorious times with many many won races were in the 1960s and early 1970s. When he finished racing as professional rider in 1972, he started a business in producing high class bicycles. Today the company still exists and still specializes in custom made bikes.
Back in 1977 when this bike was made the usage of Ishiwata tubes was not very common in Europe. But it were the dutch brands who early realized that Japanese engineering might have a future in cycling and that their components performed similar to the good old Italian stuff. Ishiwata 022 was a typically double butted tubing of a steel that was of the same quality as Columbus and was delivered to the frame builder with a better finishing.
This precisely manufactured frame comes in a distinguished grey colour and is a bike of complete understatement. Fine work. good components and a clean look. A bike for a sunday ride as well as for a historic bicycle race.
