Description
This is a great Koga Miyata Gentsracer S from 1980, a classic sports-machine.
In this time, the Koga team was very successful and even won the UCI team worldcup in 1981. So one of the company's slogans was "From the factory to the starting line!"
The frame was built by Miyata, a company which has been in the bicycle business since 1890 and employed some of the best frame builders. But not only the employees were special at Miyata. A hallmark of all their bikes was the tubing of tremendous quality, first delivered by Tange. The result is stunning. So proud was Koga Miyata of their work, that they soon granted a life long guarantee on the frames.
In our case the frame has been soldered from strong Tange Champion double butted tubing.
On top of technical side there is beauty. Clean lugs and classic lines.
The bike has a racing geometry with ever so slightly more relaxed angles than a criterium bike and is equipped with Shimano 600 parts - Utterly reliable and a feast for your eyes.
The Gentsracer S was the first racing model Koga ever had in its catalogues. And due to its quality and easy handling it became so popular that it was built for years and years with small changes to the setup. What is new on our model from 1980, for example, is the Shimano Dyna-Drive crankset which allows larger riders to right a smaller frame. That way our 56cm frame would also suit somebody who is searching for a 57cm one.
If you are looking for a great performing classic racing bike for weekend rides or classic cycling events, then why not this Koga Miyata in great and pretty much original condition?
It has been thoroughly checked and is ready to take you to new horizons.
