Description
In Germany, from time to time nice old bicycles pop up by a brand called Le Taureau. Though the name points into the direction of France, they are the bikes of a big German bike trader from Stuttgart: Radsport Stier. Their name translates to 'bull' so they chose the french word for bull which is 'taureau' as the name for their brand.
From the 1970s to 1990s different manufacturers built for them, from German Hugo Rickert, to French Mercier or Italian makers.
Our Le Taureau Classic Steel Bike from 1991 is one of the high class bikes they distributed.
The frame is perfectly built with fine lugs and a strong butted Columbus tubing. Since the frame is quite large, it was necessary to take a set with slightly thicker walls. The Columbus Aelle was made of cold-drawn, microalloyed-steel thin-wall tubing which made it especially lightweight for its rigidity.
The rear triangle is chromed for durability as is the fork which also sports the fancy bulls head on the fork crown.
A great frame needs great parts so Stier decided for Campagnolo Chorus parts, Campagnolo's most popular high-end groupset back then.
The bike is in such excellent condition that you will have fun with it for many years to come. It barely shows traces of usage at all. So if you are looking for a big, perfectly preserved classic steel bike, you should give it a go!
