Description
The LERI bicycle factory was founded by Giovanni Rinaldi in 1898 in Bagnolo by Nogarole Rocca (Verona). In 1923, Giovanni's son Leopold moved the production to Cinisello Balsamo, thus creating the brand LERI (LEopoldo RInaldi). Around the same time, LERI started producing motorized bikes in addition to traditional bicycles. In 1958, LERI Moved the business to Muggio. Leopold's children John and Rosina continued the production of bicycles and accessories and expanded the range of products.
Our LERI is a sporty looking model from the 1960s. It is equipped with a Magistroni Bottom Bracket, Crankset, Headset as well as Drumbrakes in the front and back.
The Motor is a Garelli 38-B 'Mosquito' Engine which is fed by a Dellorto Carburator. The 49ccm two-stroke motor is running on a 20:1 mixture, giving you that typical nostalgic smell which catapults you back into a bygone era: a turn on the gas lever and a kick in the pedals and the motor of this time machine starts instantly. The motor can be started by pedaling but if necessary, you could as well switch the motor off and just ride on.
The frame is similar to a very strong bicycle construction with the addition of a suspension on the forks and in the back. The headset is the same type which can be found on bicycles of the same age.
Everything on the LERI has been checked and is working fine, from the motor, to the lights and the drum brakes. Even the buzzer is working excellently.
