Description

The story of the Masi brand starts in the 1930s with Faliero Masi dropping out of professional road and track racing and starting to offer finest bespoke bicycles for demanding riders. Later the shop moved to its most famous venue. Since 1952 the Masi Atelier - located at the famous Velodromo Vigorelli in Milan - has manufactured some of the most prestigious Italian bicycles of all time.

In the early 1970s Faliero Masi set over to the US to establish his brand in California whilst his son, Alberto Masi, took over the Italian branch. Alberto managed to hold his own by introducing such influencial models as the Masi Prestige or the Masi 3V Volumetrica. The latter combined an extremely advanced oversized steel tubing with even more advanced internal lugs, hidden in the frame. This invention was an inspiration and starting shot for oversized tube frames all over the world.

In the late 1980s Alberto pushed forward into the production of oversized TIG-welded steel frames. Tubing manufactures offered innovative specially shaped steel tubes, made from strong new alloys and it was time to make use of it to compete against the Aluminium wave.

Our frameset here is made with one of these advanced steel tubings. Thin yet strong Dedacciai 18MCDV6 steel tubes have been used. They are shaped to lend some extra stiffness to the frame while staying fairly lightweight. This frameset has been made to celebrate the 70th birthday of the Masi brand in the late 1990s.

What other groupset could fit such a fine frame than the best Campagnolo could offer. In this case the frameset has been equipped with a full Campagnolo 10-Speed groupset!

This bike is perfectly fit for fast training rides as well as relaxed jaunts on weekends.
