Description
Since 1952 the Masi Atelier - located at the famous Velodromo Vigorelli in Milan - has manufactured some of the finest road bicycles which has appealed collectors worldwide ever since. A Masi is definitely a bicycle which should not be missing in any serious collection of vintage bicycles.
Launched in 1970, the Masi Gran Criterium is one of the best Italian bicycles ever manufactured. Inspired by the racing bikes which Faliero Masi built for Eddy Merckx (Team Faema) by the the time, the Masi Gran Criterium is the archetype of Italian bicycles: elegant and high-preforming. The finely filed lugs, the stupendous details – as the double fork crown and the high-end materials - are clear indicators that the Masi Gran Criterium is a bicycle for serious racing.
Masi nevers disclosed which steel tubing he used for the Gran Criterium - neither he did with other bikes – but it was presumably made either of light and sturdy Columbus SL or Reynolds 531 tubes.
This 1970s Masi Gran Criterium is in good condition. It is equipped with an appropriate groupset - the Campagnolo Nuovo Record, Mavic rims, 3ttt cockpit, and an Isca saddle.
The bike has been fully checked in our workshop and is ready to hit the road. Suitable for Eroica events worldwide and collections alike.
Simply iconic, elegant and terrifically beautiful. A piece of cycling history.
