Description

Since 1952 the Masi Atelier - located at the famous Velodromo Vigorelli in Milan - has manufactured some of the most prestigious Italian bicycles of all time.

The Masi Speciale Corsa was the top model offered in the 50s and the very beginning of 1960s. The bicycles were made under supervision of Faliero Masi himself. Widely known as "The Tailor", Mr Faliero Masi manufactured extremely refined steel frames which brought countless champions to epic victories. Thanks to the success in competitions, Masi frames has appealed also to regular riders and collectors ever since, so much that the Masi workshop in Milano has become a sightseeing for many enthusiasts.

This particular Speciale Corsa is a very fine example. The frame is made without unnecessary finesse, but with painstaking attention to every little detail. The result is stunningly beautiful. This frame has further one special feature - the narrow pista version of the bottom bracket shell. What was the reason for this solution we don't know, but it makes this already special bike even rarer.

The frame has been fully refurbished and is fitted with correct-period components. Campagnolo has taken care of the shifting and hubs with it's Gran Sport. Universal provided the Extra brakes, which were the first choice for competitive bikes back then as was the Cinelli stem or Abrosio bars. On the bike, you would find quite a few Magistroni parts too. The 6-armed crank, bottom bracket and even the headset are made by this icon of Italian cycling in the 50s. And then you have the rest - Brooks saddle, Nisi rims ar Regina chain.

We have named almost all parts this bike consists of up to this point, but in case of exemplar this special and this rare, every little piece is telling short story of cycling history.

This bike made by one of the most celebrated frame builders in history is a true gem. Any serious classic cycling collection shouldn't remain without a Masi and this Masi Speciale Corsa belongs to very best of them.
