Description

Motobécane was one of the biggest bicycle producers in France and existed under this name from 1923 until 1984. Afterwards it became a branch of Yamaha and continued producing bicycles in France under the Name MBK.
In the 1980s and 1990s MBK brought some very nice and modern steel bikes to the market. They sponsored famous professional teams and their design was unmistakeable.
Just like you can see on this MBK Trainer Classic Road Bicycle from the 1990s. The rear triangle is cut a bit shorter with the seat stays being aerodynamically formed. The seatpost clamping is hidden in the little 'tail' of the top tube. Top and down tube are flattened out towards the back to give the frame a bit of extra stability.
TIG welding was the technique that made unusual constructions like these very popular in the 1990s. Something else which was fancied back then were bi-coloured paintjobs in vivid shades. Maybe Klein is the company which became most famous for these paintworks but they were not the only ones, as MBK proves with this neon pink and purple dream.
This is a bike for people who are not afraid to draw a little attention.
