Description
In 1980 Raymond Creuset quit his work at the famous bicycle manufacturer Mercier. But it was just to buy the financially struggling company Mécacycle which had its facilities right down the road not far from the Mercier factory in St. Etienne, France.
Soon he attracted the attention of the cycling world with some pretty innovative designs. And the Mécacycle Turbo was one of them.
A bike designed for professional cyclists with a split seat tube to make the frame stiffer and create a short wheelbase to make the handling extremely easy.
Though the idea was not exactly new, the frames were made to a very high quality standard and remained successful for many years. For the tubing mostly Super Vitus was used which was somewhat similar to Columbus SL or Reynolds 531. Those tubes were fillet brazed, bi-laminated or lugged whichever seemed to be the best solution for each joint.
This frame is a standard racing frame for 700c wheels which was famous for its perfectly balanced riding characteristics and deserves top class parts. So it got them.
The bike is fitted with what is mainly an extra fine Shimano Dura Ace groupset from the 74xx series. Then there is of course the necessary, specially made Huret Jubilee front derailleur. On top there is a Mavic bottom bracket. A Cinelli cockpit is installed and of course there is the Rubis seatpost with internal clamping! - Well, ain't that nice?
A rather rare classic, legendary bike. Completely eligible for Eroica races, long weekend rides or short sprints around the corners of your city.
br> The bike has been very thoroughly checked and is ready to go!
