Description

A bicycle which truly comes from the golden age of cycling. Molinari was an Italian frame builder from Turin. This bike dates back to the late 1940s, presumably 1949, and is still in its original condition. Therefore we decided to keep it as authentic as possible.

The frame is a real masterpiece of years long gone by. It is likely made of Falck steel tubes which are jointed into chromed lugs to the head tube, and are filled brazed to the seat tube.

Besides the frame, the highlight of this Molinari is certainly the iconic "Campagnolo Cambio Corsa" gear. This rod-operated powerhouse secured Gino Bartali's second Tour de France victory. One of its major strength was the perfect chain tension and reliable operation in rough conditions with mud, gravel and pavé.

Since the two lever method was demanding for the rider, it was in the 1950s transformed into the Paris-Roubaix shifting with just one lever. And just a bit later the downtube lever operated parallelogram derailleurs of the Gran Sport gruppo had their final break through.

Not only the gear, but also the Universal brakes, stem, handlebar and rims, and Sheffield pedals are all original components from that era. And of course, they are some of the best of their time! On top there is the small front mudguard.

An about 70 years old bicycle in original condition - definitely the right choice for classic bicycle collectors! A true piece of the finest Italian craftsmanship.
