Description
A bicycle which truly belongs to the golden age of cycling. Molinari was an Italian frame builder from Turin. This exemplars dates back to the late 1930s or early 1940s presumably 1939/1940 and is still in its original condition. Therefore we kept it as authentic as it was!
The frame is a real masterpiece of years long gone by. It is likely made of Falck steel tubes which are joint into chromed lugs to the head tube, and with braze fillet to the seat tube.Just have a look at these dropouts and the beautiful internal cable routing!
Beside the frame, the highlight of this Molinari is certainly the iconic "Cambio Vittoria Margherita - Model Tour the France "gear. It was produced between 1937 and 1938 by the brothers Nieddu in Turin, who in 1927 also released the first gear of the cycling history. The Cambio Vittoria Margherita (Gino Bartali used the same gear in the Tour de France) consists of a front lever which works together with a cog, a chain tensioner and a derailleur.
It was not that easy to use and was consequently replaced by the Campagnolo gear with a quick-release hub, before Simplex introduced the first gearing with spring and downtube shifter.
Not only the gear, but also the Universal brakes, Ambrosio stem, handlebar and rims, and Sheffield pedals are original components from that era. And of course they are the best of their time!
An over 70 years-old bicycle in original condition. Definitely the right choice for classic bicycle collectors!
