Motobecane Profil 2 Classic Aero Bike 1980s

Established in 1923 Motobécane was one of the most famous French manufacturers of bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, and other small vehicles. "Motobécane" is a compound of "moto", slang for motorcycle; "bécane" is slang for "bike."
They became more known to an international public by their sponsoring of professional teams and winning the Tour de France with their typical orange and later blue machines. But they also tried to introduce innovative frame designs - just like they did with the Motobecane Profil.

The Motobecane Profil 2 is an icon of the 1980s aerodynamic bicycle boom. Tested in Motobecane's wind tunnel, the bicycle was designed for a low wind resistance and an efficient air penetration at high speeds.
This was managed by using oval shaped Aero 2040 steel tubes which were internally soldered. To hone the aerodynamics a Shimano Adamas AX groupset was installed.
This exemplar is painted in the original green color and still has all the original parts.
