Description

Not only is the Raleigh one of the oldest cycling brands of the world, it also is popular for its racing heritage. At the peak of sportive triumph stood the Dutch cycling Team TI Raleigh which was extremely successful from the 1970s to the 1980s. Many famous champions rode in this équipe, among them Joop Zoetemelk, Jan Raas, Gerrie Knetemann, Hennie Kuiper, Dave Lloyd, Urs Freuler, Johan van der Velde and Didi Thurau.

When 'The Raleigh' turned 100 years in 1987, it fabricated a small series of anniversary bikes, which were made available to the most successful retailers and shops. 200 pieces were made and distributed. Ours is the number 139. Our Raleigh Centenary Collectible Road Bike is built from Reynolds 531c tubing in one of very classic designs for which Raleigh was famous. The whole frame has then been 24k fine gold plated, the headtube painted. It looks terrific!

Nobody really knows, why as the groupset for these rare and expensive bikes, The mid-class Shimano had been chosen. But honestly, we think it is not that bad and adds up to this model's mystery.
Our exemplar has been a shop piece ever since it was delivered. - Well, we had a short test ride, to make sure that everything is working fine. But generally everything on this bike is New Old Stock or New.

A rare collectible bike, checked, lubed, adjusted and good for many more years, be it wall art or racing bike!
