In 1939, four years after setting the World Hour Record, Giuseppe Olmo, nicknamed "Gepin", retired from a successful cycling career. Straight afterwards he set up a bicycle manufacture in Celle Ligure together with his brothers Franco, Giovanni and Michele. The traditional company is still in production today. During the years many excellent bikes have left Celle Ligure to win races all over the world.
One of their top models in the 1980s was the Olmo Competition Leader. Belonging to the first aero experiments of the bicycle industry, this Olmo has been built with Columbus Air tubes – with beautiful fork blades and aerodynamic stays of the second generation – and a complete internal cable routing. Additionally, the down tube shifters were moved in closer together to save that extra watt or two.
A classic Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset with many Olmo pantographed parts complete this superb racing machine. The cherry on the top is the chroming on the lugs, fork and the complete rear stays.
It still sports the original blue paintjob with a classic 'retinato' pattern.
When decided to change some wearing parts for new ones so you can enjoy the bike fully. And so there are brand new quality components like the handmade Tufo tyres, Supercorsa saddle, chain, cables and so on.
Completely checked and serviced in our workshop by our expert mechanics, the bike is ready to ride.
ConditionUsed. The bicycle is in good condition. The frame has no cracks, no dents and is not bent. The paintwork and decals are all original with some paint chips and scratches. All parts have been checked and are working fine. The bicycle went through a full checkup at Steel Vintage Bikes workshop! Parts were disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled again. The frame was checked for structural integrity and wearing parts were replaced with new ones. You can expect the bicycle in great riding condition and ready to go for your vintage bike ride.

SVB quality and attention to detail is second to none! Fantastic customer service, very accommodating and helpful. An error was made in delivery and the SVB team efficiently sorted the problem the same day. I was gifted the original item and sent a brand new item, dispatched the same day. Lovely products and very helpful staff. 5*GB
Just bought a second vintage classic bike from Steel Vintage. A great bike at an excellent price and they couldn't have been more helpful. Their fantastic service was every bit as good as before.
Placed the on-line order late on Saturday evening and the bike was delivered to me here in the UK the following Thursday morning.GB
Geeky Eroica Cool. I bought the "old-school" Italian made bike shoes. They were delivered in good condition and in a quick timely fashion. They're geeky cool, just like I hoped and they're put together very well (stitched nicely, no glues where it shouldn't be) light and fit properly!US
Steel Vintage Bikes are such an excellent company to deal with. They are passionate about vintage steel bikes. They have in my opinion very fair prices and very obliging to deal with. Packaging is great and no hassle even for delivery way down here in New Zealand.NZ
The overall service provided by Steel Vintage Bikes is always first rate. Delivery and packaging is always timely and well done. I cannot fault Steel Vintage and have been a customer for a number of years.. Plan to get to Berlin hopefully in the near future, stop in for a some Kaffee und Kirchen and a bike geek mooch around the shop.IE
