Description

Can a bicycle be art? If you don’t think so, you’ve never seen a bike created by Giovanni Pelizzoli. A master in every sense of the word, he began his training in the early 1960s cleaning the workshop of Ugo De Rosa, possibly the greatest frame builder to hold a torch. After years of tutelage under the master craftsman, Pelizzoli refined his style and found his own voice through the torch. A prolific designer, he went on to create the Ciöcc brand of cycles which thrived in the 1970s. Crystallizing his place amongst cycling's most sought after frame builders, his signature San Cristobal frames won the U23 World Championship in 1977 and went on to be ridden by National Teams, claiming a Silver in the 1980 Olympic Road Race.

Pelizzoli went on the make frames for the Fausto Coppi line in the 1990s, eventually claiming a Giro d’Italia victory with Ivan Gotti. Still building and painting his own line of frames today, a Pelizzoli is a part of the fabric of cycling.

This particular frame is an extraordinary example of design, execution and craftsmanship. Using the same geometry as the championship pedigree of the San Cristobal, Pelizzoli utilized the ultra light tubing of Columbus SLX steel. But that's not what makes this bike a piece of art. Pelizzoli himself comes from a rare breed of builders AND painters of frames. His form always followed function and his ability to master both techniques put him in a class himself. Like a true artist, the use of gold on the chainstay, fork crown and steerer lugs are hand painted and done in a way to emphasize, but not dominate, the natural beauty of the bike. The pantographed Campagnolo Super Record groupset adds yet another unique layer and are examples of Pelizzoli’s obsession with detail.

A one of a kind collectors piece, this bike is in fantastic working condition and ready for the open road. Fully serviced, built and tuned by our world class workshop, this is a head turning bike sure to impress.
