Description
The Pemberton family has been involved in the Manchester Bicycle scene since the 1890s. But it was in the 1930s, when Fred Pemberton took over the family business and started to build lightweight racing bikes, that their shop and cycles became really famous. The racing bikes were branded as Pemberton Arrow.
The production of and demand for these bikes stayed up until the 1950s, when most of the British frame builders took a blow. Altogether it is assumed that 3000 Pemberton bikes have been built throughout the history of the company, with not more than maybe 50 per year.
It is quite unsure how many of the Pemberton Arrow racers have survived, but it cannot be too many.
Thus we are really happy to be able to present to you A Pemberton Arrow with a Frame from 1949 and some really nice parts on it.
The frame itself is built from light, butted tubing, which has been joined using modified Ekla lugs, which were very popular back then.
As for the parts, we have nice GB brakes, a famous Stronglight 49 chainset with satisfyingly smooth Lyotard 45 pedals. The Simplex shifting helps accelerating the classic 27" rims around Harden high flange hubs.
A great bike for all friends of classic British cycling.
