Description
Peugeot was one of those early bicycle manufacturers which grew big and succsessful during the 20th century. Their first bike was already built as early as 1882. But their reputation grew mainly due to their racing activities. Peugeot sponsored victorious racing squads and cyclists from 1903 until 1983.
In this time they managed to win the tour de france 10 times and countless championships, classics and one day races. The number of famous riders who rode for the Peugeot team is absolutely mindblowing.
One of the models which was ridden by this team and was their top racing bike was the Peugeot PHX 10. Introduced in the late 1950s it was the first Peugeot-model to be specifically built for a cable-operated front derailleur. And here we have one of those successful framesets. And it is a rather special one on top!
As you could probably expect from a professional frame of this era, the tubes are Reynolds 531 butted ones and the lugs are beautiful Nervex Professional. So that is awesome already.
But what really sets this frameset apart is, that it does not come in the blue and yellow which was typical for Peugeot at that time. Instead it is fully chromed and lacks the usual pump peg, thus offers a distinguished and clean look.
The frame was designed for the use of Simplex' most awesome derailleur, the Juy 543 and comes equipped with the original Stronglight headset and a Stronglight bottom bracket with a tapered spindle.
Rare, exciting and a headstart into an awesome project!
