Description
Peugeot was one of those early bicycle manufacturers which grew big and succsessful during the 20th century. Their first bike was already built as early as 1882. But their reputation grew mainly due to their racing activities. Peugeot sponsored victorious racing squads and cyclists from 1903 until 1983.
In this time they managed to win the tour de france 10 times and countless championships, classics and one day races. Who has not seen the pictures of Tom Simpson and Eddy Merckx, winning the World Championships 1965 and 1967 on a Peugeot PX 10?
And here we have one of their classic road bikes a Peugeot PRN 13/E Gentleman from 1977. And it is in excellent original condition!
The tubes are based on Reynolds 531 butted main tubing and the lugs are short yet elegant. As for the parts - there might has been just one change to the original setup by switching the front derailleur. From the brakes to the hubs, everything else is original.
It radiates all that aura of reliability for which the models of Peugeot were known and highly regarded.
The distinctive features of this rare model - which was only built for a very short period - are clincher tires and the triple crankset. This component added 5 extra gears to the regular Peugeot setup.
Its generous transmission as well as its condition makes our Peugeot PRN 13/E very well suitable for riding it in vintage cycling events. Just a perfect ride for historic races. If you are searching for an Eroica bike, this one might just be the ticket.
Checked, serviced and ready to go!
