Description
This is a Pogliaghi classic bicycle from the 1970s. Sante Pogliaghi is undoubtedly one of the best Italian frame builders of the post Second World War times. Many champions as Eddy Merckx and countless other champions rode with his frames, the frame builder from Milan was well known for his skills in building customised steel frames. Despite the fact that he mainly built track frames and tandems, Pogliaghi´s frames were also highly esteemed among road racers.
He can easily be considered the grandfather of modern road bike design who inspired many others like Colnago or Pinarello. Here we feature one of his stunning road bicycles. The frame is made of top quality Reynolds 531 steel tubes and is equipped with a Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset (Rear derailleur Pat. 70). According to the frame number - No. D398 - and the letters engraved on the seat lug - PSM (Pogliaghi Sante Milano), this frame was approximately built in the early 1970s.
Not only the frame also the parts are evidently showing the sense for what makes a bike performing perfectly.Cinelli Unicanitor saddle, Cinelli stem and handlebarbar, Campagnolo Record high flange hubs and Campagnolo Nuovo Record crankset with 175mm long arms are certainly highlights and the best available in the early 1970s
The perfect bicycle to participate in L´Eroica as well as to enrich a collection!
