Description

Sante Pogliaghi is undoubtedly one of the best Italian frame builders of the post Second World War times. Many champions as Eddy Merckx and countless others rode with his frames, the frame builder from Milan was well known for his skills in building customised steel frames. Despite the fact that he mainly built track frames and tandems, Pogliaghi´s frames were also highly esteemed among road racers.
He can easily be considered the grandfather of modern road bike design who inspired many others like Colnago or Pinarello.
Pogliaghi is on record stating he would retire by 1980 but he officially closed his workshop on 1983. He sold or transferred rights to build bicycles under his name in the 1983-84. Marc Rossin took over the rights to the marque first until, eventually, it was acquired by the Basso brothers in the late 1980s. Our Pogliaghi Italcorse bike seems to stem from the Rossin era but it is not a regular build. It underwent a serious customization.
The frameset has been expertly refurbished by the specialists of Velo Ciao and thus looks as good as new or maybe better.
As for the parts we find an ensemble of rare stuff with one theme: Black is beautiful.
Campagnolo Record and Super Record parts which are black anodized! How often do you get to see that? It gives the bike a very stealthy appeal. Also the Cinelli stem and handlebar are black anodized.
Another black highlight on this Poliaghi are the ultra rare Weinmann Delta Pro brakes.
They complete the bike to a one of a kind racer from the 1980s. Certainly special enough for collections and ridable enough to turn you into a bit of a show-off on some tours.
