Description

The classic Randonneuse or Randonneur is meant to be a utility bike as well as a sports bike. It should combine the speed-thirsty transmission and geometry of a road racing bike with the stability and weather-proofness of a typical touring bike. If these two aspects are intertwined in a good way, then the outcome is a bike which allows for speedy commutes as well as for bikepacking when long distances are to be covered within a short time.

Our Romani Randonneur is such an excellent bike.

The whole build is based on a 1990s steel frame which had been made from strong gauge Columbus tubing. This is really helping with taking the twitchiness out of the frameset while riding on rougher surfaces or with some extra weight.

As for the parts we decided mostly upon Campagnolo Veloce. Not only was it the classic silver version which goes well together with the chromed details of the frame, but also the precise 10-Speed shifting and great ergonomics that made this an easy choice.

As for the brakes we went with trustworthy and proven Tektro cross brakes which add some extra style to the frame which reminds of the classic Mafac Cantilevers.

The wheels are handbuilt by ourselves and combine elegance with the necessary stability for long rides. Supple 32mm Panaracer tires let you glide over tarmac and soften the harsher surfaces like gravel or pavé. A set of Aluminium mudguards ensures that the rider won't be drenched from underneath when being cought in surprising rain shower.

The bike offers plenty of room to fit some frame or saddle bags and could easily be topped up with a rear rack.

A jack-of-all-trades when it comes to sportive cycling. And an impressively stylish machine at that!
