Description
Vintage bikes from the late 1940s and early 1950s belong to the most appealing and beautiful examples of the vintage bicycle world. Top class Italian machines from this era are sometimes equipped with one of most exciting shifting mechanisms of all time, the Campagnolo Cambio Corsa. This iconic rear derailleur was a two-rod-operated masterpiece that combined special dropouts with a quick release and the actual derailleur. It was the power house that helped Gino Bartali win his epic Tour de France in 1948. The obvious disadvantage of having to operate the shifting levers behind the body was compensated for by the always perfect chain tension and the bullet proof mechanism. On the rough roads of the late 1940s, a skipping chain on cobbles or a derailleur blocked by mud could make the difference of winning a race or having to give up.
Our Rondine Cambio Corsa is equipped with maybe the most sought after solution to these problems.
If you have dreamed of a Cambio Corsa bike, then this one might be for you. The frame with its beautiful window-cut lugs has been rechromed and repainted by Mariano in Italy. Other fine parts include Universal brakes and Magistroni Components.
A bike like this would surely be fun and challenge to ride at L'Eroica but it would also be a great showpiece.
