Description
Baronchelli, Roger De Vlaeminck, Franco Ballerin and Moreno Argentin are some of the riders who rode frames expertly and meticulously built by Marco Rossin, one of the best Italian frame builders in the 1970s and 1980s.
His career started at the Colnago factory which he left in 1974 to establish his own business together with Vittorio and Giuseppe Ghezzi, Inzaghi e Garbelli – patrons and managers of ICLAS and ITLA teams by that time.
Carefully manufactured and with a notable attention to details, 1970s and 1980s Rossin steel racing bikes are icons of the finest Italian bike manufacturing.
The bike we present here is incredibly well made. The Rossin Super Record Pista Vent Noir is a unique set up of the already extensively rare special edition "Rossin Super Record Pista Gold Type".
The idea behind it was to not only make the bike look luxurious but also bring it to the edge what was possible regarding lightness. That said it was important to just use top class parts and not to make compromises on the functionality.
The outcome is stunning: The bike including pedals weighs in at 6.77kg!.
The frame itself has been made from ultra light Columbus Record tubing with thinned out lugs and dropouts and has been partly gold plated. Since the gold coating had to be very thin, it unfortunatly wore off easily over the decades.
The components are spectacular: Titanium and Aluminium are to be found in all the bearings - bottom bracket, pedals, headset and hubs are really the finest and rarest Campagnolo offered.
The wheelset comes with super light clement tires on some of the lightest blackened rims laced with bladed spokes to lightened hubs, which come whithout a bearing cap. Thus the hubs are used with light and liquid oils instead of thick grease.
Rather surprisingly, handlebar, stem, seatpost and saddle are by far not the lightest stuff that was available at that time. Here, at the contact points, quality and solidity triumphed over a possible weight saving of what would easily have been another 200 grams or more.
A special bike model like this is something you really come across maybe once in a lifetime and many seasoned collectors might have lived through decades without seeing this bike in the flesh.
Heavily collectible yet lightweight.
