Samyn Giro D'Italia Classic Road Bike 1972

Gilbert Samyn was the owner of a bicycle shop with its own road bike brand Samyn Sport. The shop was placed in the small municipality of Quiévrain in Belgium, right at the French border and in the middle of the triangle Brussels-Roubaix-Saint Quentin.
Since cycling sports were very popular in this area and numerous amateur and professional races were held throughout the year, a specialisation in racing bikes was a good idea.
Excellent road bikes just like our Samyn Giro d'Italia were sold in Quiévrain.

We do not know whether the Italian components or the multiple Giro triumphs of the Belgian rider Eddy Merckx were responsible for naming this bike after one of the most popular stage races.
As a matter of fact it is equipped with some of the finest parts you could get back in 1972. Most parts are Campagnolo Nuovo Record, the top notch component series from Vincenza.
Other parts include an evenly high class Cinelli Cockpit

To top the setup off, the bike is rolling on a set of rare early Weinmann rims, laced to the hubs with extra slim chromed spokes.
A rare Cinelli Unicanitor with 'padding stitches' is sitting enthroned on the seatpillar.

Together with the beautiful frame in original condition, this bike is one of strong character and absolute class.
