Description
Umberto Scapin started building racing bicycles in 1957 in Piove di Sacco (Padua, norther Italy) and dedicated his whole life towards the production of high-end and refined steel frames. However not a mainstream brand, Scapin bicycles are nowadays really renowned amongst collectors worldwide.
As most of the Italian frame builders, Scapin committed to manufacture not only durable and performing frames, but also elegant and beautiful ones, adjectives which must must accompany every Italian bicycle. And this Scapin in cromovelato is no exception.
Built with reliable Columbus tubes, this Scapin frame sticks out for its "cromovelato" paintwork. The tubes basically underwent a full chroming before getting painted with a very thin blue coat which creates a very translucent effect.
This very elegant road bicycle is furthermore equipped with a Campagnolo Record shifting in great condition. Most other parts are from Gipiemme, the brakes are by Modolo. Through this choice, the bike could be kept slightly more affordable than the bikes for professionals. It is working extremely fine, nonetheless.
If you are looking for a rare classic bicycle to take part in L'Eroica or to visit the next ice cream parlor, this Scapin will not disappoint you! A bike to shine on.
