Somec Air Super Record Classic Road Bicycle 1980s

SOcietà MECcanica was founded in 1973 by Oliviero Gallegati in Lugo di Romagna (Italy). Being a rather small manufacturer, Somec did not produce many bicycles, especially in the beginnings. Besides perfect craftsmanship they became famous in the 1980s for the use of advanced tubings, lugs and their special paintjobs. A fame which they nourished by their flamboyant and technically perfect bikes.

Our Somec Air Super Record is one of these fine machines.
As for the tubing it is made of top class Columbus SLX tubes with inner helical reinforcements. But that tells just a tiny part about how refined this masterpiece really is. It is all about the beautiful details like the precisely cutout lugs, typical shot-in seat stays, "spoiler" bottom bracket or the elegant Columbus Air fork.

And then there is the paintjob. It is easily recognized to come from the hands of one of the most ingenious of Italian frame painters: Mario Martini. Mario turned colouring frames into art and developed a unique and recognizable style which played with fadings, sharp-lined layering and smashing colours.

Which groupset would fit such a brilliant piece better than a Campagnolo one? Consequently a Campagnolo Super Record Gruppo is installed. And what's more, it received the renowned Somec pantograph treatment so you can find fine engraving even on very unusual places.

On top it is equipped with 3ttt cockpit, Nisi rims or NOS Benotto tape.
