Description
The SOcietà MECcanica was founded in 1973 by Oliviero Gallegati in Lugo di Romagna (Italy). Being a rather small manufacturer, Somec did not produce as many bikes as the more famous competition, especially in the beginnings.
However Somec made up for the lacking numbers by sheer quality of the frames. The standard to which it produced every frame was almost second to none as our Somec Special from early 1980s illustrates.
The frame made of light Columbus SL tubes has the typical cutout lugs, engraved Somec logos and the beautiful cranked brake bridge known from high class Somecs. It has been professionally refurbished and it now shines in deep red painjob. The geometry is also quite compact with the relatively short top tube so it will suite even riders with slightly shorter arms.
As a truly premium bicycle our Somec cannot be fitted with nothing less then the best groupset available at that time. Campagnolo Super Record gruppo runs like a clockwork and is in sweet condition too.
This bike is an absolute classic and the Somec reputation for excellent frame building is renowned. And because of the great condition of the frame and parts as well as the carefull work of our mechanics you can now fully enjoy it.
