Stelbel Strada Cromato Classic Artisan Road Bike 1980s

Here we present you a special Stelbel Strada made by the Italian maestro STELio BELletti.
He is without a doubt one of the most creative and skilled Italian frame builders of the 1970s and 1980s. Belletti was actually one of the first manufacturers who pioneered the process of TIG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas) for bicycle frame building (he learnt it from his father Antenore, a planes fuselages welder). And he was the first frame builder to master this technique to a degree that is still exemplary today.
This Stelbel Strada dates back to 1980s and it is rather special. The most obvious is that the steel TIG welded frame with smooth joints has been fully chromed. Another speciality is the star shaped down tube. These were made by Oria and Stelbel offered this feature as an extra and it's therefore quite rare. An then there are tiny details like the Stelbel dropouts or unusual brake cable guides below the top tube.

One of the hallmarks of Stelbel frames certainly is the elaborate fork. It is said it took almost whole day for the master frame builder to finish one. And it was certainly worth it...

Stelio Belletti is said to have manufactured roughly 1000 frames. Therefore each Stelbel bicycle is like a piece of art. These bikes reached a cult status especially among Italian collectors. They can rightfully be called iconic.
