Description
Stelbel was the name of a number of excellent bikes built in the 1970s and 1980s by STELio BELletti. He is without a doubt one of the most creative and skilled Italian frame builders.
He actually was the first manufacturer who applied the process of TiG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas) to the bicycle industry (he learnt it from his father Antenore, a planes fuselages welder).
In the whole time of his career, Stelio did not make many frames, because they needed meticulous preparation and finishing. It is said that one of his famous forks took two days alone to be made!
The master manufactured roughly 1000 frames. Therefore each Stelbel bicycle is an art piece that may enrich any vintage cycling collection!
And even rarer than his regular bikes, exceptionally rare, are his Tandems.
Our Stelbel Tandem dates back to the 1980s and is made mainly of Columbus tubes and other tubes, specifically designed and made for Stelio Belletti. The lugless frame is a true craftsmanship masterpiece, as well as the iconic Stelbel fork crown.
The parts for this bike are carefully chosen from what was the best for a tandem of this time.
We checked it and rode it a bit - man, this beast is fast.If you are looking for a very rare item, or a fantastic tandem for fast touring or historic bike rides, you should try to get hold of this beauty.
Since shipping such a piece is not quite easy, a pick-up at our shop is preferred. Otherwise, please contact us for information on how shipping is possible and how much it would cost.
