Description
Founded in 1877 in Nottingham, Raleigh produced some of the finest racing bicycles of the British heritage of cycling.
Here we present nothing less than a Team Raleigh from 1980 (SB4373 stamped underneath BB shell) in new old stock condition. Made of high-end butted Reynolds 753 tubes and equipped with a complete Campagnolo Super Record groupset (also in new old stock condition), this Team Raleigh is a vintage bicycle which should not be missing in a serious collection.
Not only because of the NOS condition, but also because this Team Raleigh - in the very typical gold paintwork available in the 1980s as option - is a racing bicycle which really embodies the heritage of the glorious British manufacturing tradition.
The professional bikes were developed and built by Raleigh's Special Product Division under Gerald O'Donovan. And the Reynolds 753 bikes were their masterpieces. The tubes were approximately 50% stronger than those of competitors but extremely hard to braze into a frame. The price related to this effort.
If you are keen to own a piece of the British cycling history, this Team Raleigh will not disappoint you! Perfect for any collection. Needless to mention the attention it would catch at Eroica Britannia...
