Description

Founded in 1877 in Nottingham, Raleigh produced some of the finest racing bicycles of the British cycling heritage.

Here we present nothing less than a Team Raleigh SBDU from the 1980s in perfect condition. Made of high-end butted Reynolds 753 tubes and equipped with very special parts (also in perfect condition), this Team Raleigh is a vintage bicycle which could enrich any serious collection.

The professional bikes were developed and built by Raleigh's Special Product Division under Gerald O'Donovan. And the Reynolds 753 bikes were their masterpieces. The tubes were approximately 50% stronger than those of competitors but extremely hard to braze into a frame. The price related to this effort.

If you are keen to own a piece of the British cycling history, this Team Raleigh frame will not disappoint you! Great for any collection.
Now, what makes this bike even more special are the parts that were used on it. We have seen many lightweight projects with vintage bikes, often with excessive drilling, filed-down parts and other tricks. In the end, the bikes were light yet a bit flimsy, too.
Not so this bike!
All parts are light but regular production pieces without any bodge which could compromise its stability. even the wheels are regular 32 spoke ones.
All bearings are titanium and aluminium OMAS parts. OMAS was also responsible for some of Campagnolo's Super Record parts and special bearings for Colnago and other companies. The brakes are CLB's famous lightweight product. Rims and pedals are nothing less than uncompromised Assos quality. But it does not stop there.
The derailleurs and the crankset are ultra-rare products of the legendary Walter works from Prague. Walter was and is more famous for the production of aircraft engines but their bike components are such a fine and rare piece of engineering that it is a shame they only produced them for a very short time. Walter derailleurs are the lightest you can find.
Altogether, including the pedals, this bike weighs in at 7.6 kilograms!
This pan-european bike has it all: The looks, the tech, the performance.
